Dzięki swojej budowie, poza funkcją drenażową, pełni również funkcję zapobiegającą erozji i przenoszącą siły ścinające. W skład systemu wchodzi również mata chłonno-ochronna posiadająca wysoką zdolność magazynowania wody. Na dachy o kącie nachylenia powyżej 15o zalecana jest systemowa juta JEG, stanowiąca dodatkową warstwę ochronną przed erozją.
