Water-permeable surfaces

Water permeable pavements are an alternative to asphalt, cobblestone and concrete pavements. They prevent localised flooding, water-logging and sewer overloading by passing water deep into the ground where it falls. In contrast to asphalt or concrete pavements, they do not heat up during hot days and do not contribute to the urban heat island effect.

They can be used for pedestrian and motor traffic, including fire roads.
